A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Founding Fathers wanted to insure that we the people, America's base militia, was always prepared to step up and defend our country from all enemies, foreign or domestic. It's that important.
